This position is for SCIEX team located at Danaher India Development Center (IDC), Bangalore
IDC is a research and development center with the vision of accelerating product roadmaps across various Danaher business segments. Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet,SCIEX and Cepheid.
The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly hardworking software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.
The inhouse teams works in close coordination with other global R&D centers at US, Canada, Europe, Japan, China, and Singapore. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120 K
The position of Lead Interaction Designer reports to the Software Cloud Manager with the primary responsibility as a member of a team of engineers to provide effective design, collaboration, feedback and integration into the creation and implementation of our desktop and web-applications.
Working with 2-3 agile teams, you will enable your teams to deliver a fantastic user experience by synthesizing complex requirements and constraints into intuitive and efficient interaction designs. Your skill in and passion for both clear conceptual thinking and attention to detail allow you to drive the full range of design artefacts from early concepts to thorough UI specifications.
Your team members will be located in Bangalore and will closely collaborate with the development teams in Toronto, Canada.
Specific responsibilities commensurate with experience and include:
Translate task flows, usage requirements, and usability results into UI designs of varying fidelity, (e.g., artefacts at the conceptual level, storyboards, wireframes at increasing level of fidelity, functional prototypes) to effectively communicate design strategies. In so doing:
Anticipate and prevent UX problems.
Work with UX Architect and other members of the UX team to ensure designs are aligned with broader product direction.
Expertise in core UX disciplines including information architecture, interaction design, application of design systems, and UI design.
Work with members of the R&D teams to drive/facilitate/review design iterations. Capture detailed interaction behaviours in UI specifications used by product owners, UI developers, and verification specialists.
Develop UI artefacts that adhere to SCIEX’s digital brand and interaction standards.
Contribute to the continual improvement of the digital brand controls and interaction patterns, including recommending improved digital standards and improving the digital repository for team usage.
Adapt to changing scope and be able to communicate relevant design rationale to the wider integrated R&D team.
Provide in-situ training and education about applying UX principles at various stages in UI development.
Good in UX design-related process and methodologies including design thinking, agile & lean UX, rapid prototyping etc.
Skilled with the use of psychology, empathy map, mind map, user journey map, affinity mapping and clustering mapping experience.
Key Requirement & Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science Interaction Design or related field
8+ years of professional experience working on commercial software products
Excellent understanding of UI and software design processes
Exceptional active listening, storytelling and presentation skills
Interaction design skills (UI control elements, navigational constructs, information architecture) – understand common desktop and web-application software UI patterns
Experience with UI wireframing tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma)
Experience with building interactive prototypes (e.g., HTML, Blend)
Excellent understanding of visual design principles, style guidelines, and graphic design skills (screen layout, icons, color, font styles)
Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop, Microsoft Design)
Have solid understanding in front-end frameworks/languages (HTML, CSS, React, etc)
Experience with vector and pixel UI design techniques
Have knowledge of designing for accessibility.
Knowledge/understanding of Windows Fluent Design System (material, animation, colors, shades, etc.)
Knowledge/understanding of XAML, WPF
You will have a portfolio to demonstrate your interaction and visual design skills, as well as tell a story about when and how you’ve handled different design trade-off decisions.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
